For at least 25 years I saved a small box of stained glass pieces, given to me by my parents, who rescued this colorful glass from a demolished antique window. My interest in working with glass was put on hold during the years of child raising, elder care-giving, and working to help put our children through college. it was always considered a project for "someday," and that time came in 1990. I enrolled in a couple of basic art glass courses, took a design course from UW-Outreach, and experimented on my own … a latent interest grew into a real addiction.

To have some control over cutting and shaping glass into surprising combinations of color and form is the key to my fascination with this craft … but this aspect of control extends only to the point where light play takes over, adding new dimensions to the finished product. it's an ongoing challenge to project just what the end result will be, and dealing with surprises is just part of the process.

My glass work is on display in the permanent art collection of University Hospital and Clinics - Ear, Nose & Throat Clinic and the Trauma & Life Support Center. I am a member of the Madison Art Guild and participate in the MAG-sponsored June Art Salon and the January Showcase.
